A Network Video Recorder (NVR) is a specialized computer system that records digital video from IP (internet protocol) cameras onto a storage device like a hard drive. Unlike a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), which connects to analog cameras and processes the video itself, an NVR receives video that has already been encoded and processed by the IP cameras.
